Corporate Milestone

1986

Dayen was born as a 2-engineer general mechanical and electrical engineering company in September, focusing mostly on general tenders from the Public Utilities Board (PUB). The jobs initially involved supplying and installing mechanical and electrical equipment in power plants, gas works and waterworks.

1990

In the early 1990s, we saw the long-term potential in the environmental engineering business, and began to aggressively bid for more such projects. We have since carved a niche for ourselves in this highly specialized field by purposefully building the necessary technical and engineering expertise.

1992

We won our first contract worth over a million dollars - a contract for overhauling bandscreens for Senoko Power Station, worth $2.1 million.

1993

Dayen was awarded its first contract by the Environment Ministry (ENV) to upgrade a sewage pumping installation. The contract was worth $2.3 million. Between 1993 and 2001, we successfully completed nine such pumping installation projects with total value over $30 million.

1994

We obtained the ME11(L5) certification approved by the Building Control Authority (BCA) to tender for mechanical engineering projects worth up to $10 million.

1996

Set up a branch office in Malaysia to implement our projects there, mainly for multinational corporations and the Public Utilities Board.

We also obtained our ME11(L6) registration, which is the highest grade of registration, allowing us to bid for all sizes of mechanical engineering contracts. We believe that there are currently no more than seven companies in Singapore with the ME11(L6) registration and which compete actively in the environmental engineering industry.

1998

Secured our first design and build project for Jurong Industrial Water Works for $15.5 million involving the installation of additional wastewater treatment facilities. This is the first fully-automated water works project in Singapore.

We were also awarded a contract to redevelop sewage treatment facilities at the Kim Chuan Water Reclamation Plant. This $11.9 million contract marked a significant milestone as it was our first project involving sewage treatment processes.

To accommodate our expanding operations we acquired a leasehold property situated in Woodlands Industrial Park.

2001

Awarded two projects for sewage treatment facilities at the Jurong Water Reclamation Plant involving both liquid and solid treatment processes, worth $9.9 million and $14.7 million respectively.

In October, we obtained a further certification allowing us to tender for electrical engineering projects worth up to $5 million.

In December, we secured first major project relating to the Deep Tunnel Sewage System (DTSS) – Changi Water Reclamation Plant, worth an outstanding $63.9
million, the highest in Dayen’s history.
